IP & Commercialisation
EXTEND cooperates with Academic Partners to foster spinoffs’ creation arising from academic research. Valorisation mechanism comprise an equity contract with the research teams, having EXTEND as co-founder of the new-born start-up, and an agreement with Academic Partners to commercialise the intellectual property generated.
Research teams need to work with their relative Technology Transfer Office (TTO) to present the initiative, having identified together with them any IP rights associated to the Project prior to EXTEND’s intervention, the so called “Background IP”, so that the application is simplified and faster for everyone.
After being financed, if the scientific data is good enough, the start-up is created and the relative Academic Partner exclusively licenses the IP generated, “Foreground IP”, into the start-up.
